Well, when it rains, it pours.
Last night, I was involved in a three-car accident. I was on the freeway, in the exit lane, not two blocks from my house. Two cars ahead of me signaled to move into the exit lane. The first car changed it's mind and whipped back into the slow lane. The second car and the car next to me swerved to avoid it, and the car next to me swerved into me. My driver's side door is completely unopenable, and and my left side mirror is gone.
I am fine. Shaken, but 100% unharmed and fine. I was the only unscathed person in the accident. One girl in the car next to me was not wearing a seatbelt. She could move, walk and talk, but she was numb and she said her head kept getting colder and colder (!). Not good. She was taken to the hospital. The other woman in the second car is from Orange County, and she was heading home with her multiple dogs in the backseat. She was wearing a seatbelt. Her car was also accordion-ed (smushed between two cars). She had whiplash and could still feel pain across her chest from where her seatbelt was. Please continue to pray for them.
I am thankful. I am thankful for God's protection over my life. I am thankful that there were no fatalies or seemingly serious injuries. I am thankful that the accident happened so close to my home, so that my parents could come be with me almost immediately. I am thankful for the firemen, paramedics, and policemen who handled the situation effectively, efficiently and calmly. I am thankful that my car still runs and is not totaled.
Please pray for my dad. With the accident that happened a month ago, the junk with the cable company that just happened, and my sister going to the hospital last week (see previous post), he's stressing out.
I know that with every new thing that comes about to rock my family, God's grace, faithfulness and provision will extend even more. I know He will turn this for good and for His glory. Even though we are in the storm right now, I still love the rain, for I know that after the rain comes "pools of blessing" (Psalm 84:6).
Gloria Sola Deos!
~
He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength as our labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

Thanks for sharing that old song, Emily. We so need to be reminded of that in our difficult times. I am so thankful you were protected from further harm even though I know being shaken like that can be very traumatic.
